Knee Pain That Won't Slow You Down

Your knee hurts on stairs. It aches after your run. It clicks when you squat. And every clinic you've tried so far has told you the same thing: rest it, ice it, stop doing the things you love.

That's not a plan. That's a pause button — and you don't have to hit it.

At True North Physical Therapy, we don't just look at your knee. We look at the whole chain — hip, ankle, core, movement pattern — to find out why your knee is doing the complaining in the first place. Then we build a plan that lets you keep training, running, hiking, or lifting while it heals.

Why Your Knee Pain Keeps Coming Back

A lot of times, knee pain isn't actually a knee problem. The knee is stuck in the middle — it takes the blame for what's happening above it at the hip and below it at the ankle. If nobody's assessed the full chain, you can rehab the knee itself for months and still feel the same ache the moment you get back to real training.

What we find is that most previous plans stopped at one of two places:

- The assessment only looked at the knee — never the hip drive, ankle mobility, or gait pattern feeding into it
- The exercises never progressed — so you plateaued, lost confidence in the joint, and eventually just backed off the activities that caused it

That's the missing link. And it's exactly what we build differently.

Common Reasons Patients Come to Us With Knee Pain
- Anterior knee pain / pain behind or around the kneecap with squatting, running, or stairs
- IT band tightness or lateral knee pain from running or cycling
- Patellar tendon pain ("jumper's knee") in lifters and court-sport athletes
- Meniscus irritation or a lingering ache after a twisting injury
- Post-surgical knees (ACL, meniscus repair, scope) that need a return-to-training plan, not just a return-to-walking plan
- Arthritic knees that still want to stay active — hiking, lifting, golf, pickleball

No diagnosis required to start. If you're not sure what's going on, that's exactly what the assessment is for.

What Happens at Your First Visit

You'll get a full-chain movement assessment — not just a knee poke-and-prod. We'll look at how your hip, ankle, and core are (or aren't) supporting your knee, talk through what you've already tried and why it didn't stick, and build a plan of care around your actual goals — whether that's getting back to your 5K training block, squatting pain-free again, or just making it through a full workday without the ache.

No referral needed. No insurance runaround. Just a clear plan before you leave.
