Neck Pain That Won't Slow You Down

Your neck is tight by mid-afternoon. It's stiff when you wake up. It aches after a long day at a desk, or tightens up the moment you get stressed. And every clinic you've tried so far has told you the same thing: better posture, a heating pad, and a stretch sheet.

That's not a plan. That's a pause button — and you don't have to hit it.

At True North Physical Therapy, we don't just look at your neck. We look at the whole chain — upper back, shoulders, and the way your spine moves as a system — to find out why your neck is doing the complaining in the first place. Then we build a plan that lets you keep working, training, and living your day without babying it.

Why Your Neck Pain Keeps Coming Back

A lot of times, neck pain isn't actually a neck problem. The neck sits at the top of the chain — if your upper back is stiff and your shoulders aren't moving well, your neck ends up compensating for range of motion it was never meant to provide. That's why stretching the neck itself gives short-term relief but the tightness always comes back.

What we find is that most previous plans stopped at one of two places:
● The advice was “improve your posture” with no explanation of what's actually restricted or how to build the mobility and strength to hold a better position
● The treatment was passive — heat, massage, or a few stretches — with nothing that changed how the upper back and shoulders were actually moving day to day

That's the missing link. And it's exactly what we build differently.

Common Reasons Patients Come to Us With Neck Pain
● Chronic tightness and stiffness tied to desk work, screen time, or long drives
● Tension-type headaches that seem to start at the base of the skull or upper neck
● “Text neck” or forward-head posture that's become the new normal
● Whiplash or lingering pain after a car accident or fall
● Pain or tingling that radiates into the shoulder or arm
● Reduced rotation that makes checking a blind spot or looking overhead uncomfortable
● Neck pain that flares alongside shoulder pain during lifting or overhead work

No diagnosis required to start. If you're not sure what's going on, that's exactly what the assessment is for.

What Happens at Your First Visit

You'll get a full-chain movement assessment — not just a neck poke-and-prod. We'll look at your thoracic (upper back) mobility, your shoulder mechanics, and how your neck moves through rotation and extension, then talk through what you've already tried and why it didn't stick. From there, we build a plan of care around your actual goals — whether that's getting through a workday without the tension, sleeping without waking up stiff, or getting back to lifting and overhead work pain-free.

No referral needed. No insurance runaround. Just a clear plan before you leave.
